Frequently Asked Questions

Tailored for a fabrication and waterjet cutting business, with a balance of professionalism and approachability:

1. What information do you need from me?

We require detailed drawings of the part showing all dimensions, tolerances, holes, openings, angles, and thread sizes. Please also include the material type, grade, and any fittings required to manufacture the part. If the part needs treatment, such as galvanising or hardening, please specify. In addition, provide quantity, batch sizes, and estimated usage or forecast.

2. How can I send drawings to you?

The best way to send us drawings for a quote is via email. You may also mail them or deliver them in person. We can quote from CAD files, but we prefer PDF format.

3. How is pricing calculated?

We provide quotes for all batch sizes. Prices are GST exclusive and do not include shipping. Special pricing is available for urgent parts. A $200 minimum charge applies. For orders over $1,000, a 50% deposit is required. Full payment is needed prior to pick-up or despatch for non-account customers.

4. What are your lead times?

Our standard lead time is 1–2 weeks from the order date. We also offer a fast turnaround service, where parts can be completed within 1 day to 1 week, depending on requirements.

5. Do you offer delivery?

Yes — we deliver locally, across Australia, and worldwide. We can arrange a courier of your choice or you can organise your own. Pick-up is also available.

6. What is the largest part you can machine?

We can turn components up to 500 mm in diameter. Our milling machines can machine parts up to 1100 x 500 x 500 mm.

7. What tolerances can you work to?

We can achieve tolerances of 10 microns (0.01 mm) on most components. Our general machining tolerance is ±0.2 mm.

8. What is your through-bore capacity?

We can accommodate up to 80 mm through the spindle bore of our lathes.

9. What machines do you operate?

We have both CNC and manual lathes and mills. We also offer drilling, tapping, keyway cutting, and broaching services in most common materials.

10. What materials can you weld?

We weld steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.

11. What is your average lead time for fabrication?

Please allow 2–3 weeks for a typical fabrication job. External processes such as galvanising or powder coating may add an extra 1–2 weeks for each process.

12. What materials can you cut?

We can cut a variety of materials up to 150 mm thick, including:
  • Steel
  • Stone
  • Fibre Cement
  • Exotic metals
  • Aluminum
  • Foam & rubber
  • Glass
  • Tiles
  • Plastics
  • Terracotta
  • Porcelain
  • Acrylic
  • Bricks & Pavers

13. Why choose waterjet cutting?

Waterjet cutting is a precise and versatile method that uses a high-pressure stream of water, sometimes mixed with abrasive materials, to cut different materials. It produces intricate shapes with minimal material damage and no heat-affected zones.

14. What are the benefits of waterjet cutting?

  • Can cut intricate shapes with high precision, tight tolerances, and sharp corners
  • Cold cutting process — no heat or warping of materials
  • Highly efficient, especially for materials where waste reduction is important

15. What sheet sizes can you cut?

We can cut sheets up to 4 metres long by 2 metres wide.
